It'S a tiny state with big ambitions once a colonial bathwater, now a global financial center from third world to first in just one generation. Finally, all that hard work is paying off So as the Sun goes down and the lights come on, come with us as we go behind the velvet rope and show you the luxurious side of Singapore, so that seemed easy getting out of Singapore Airport Changi, which is Considered the world's best airport now for two years in a row by Skytrax, but what you're gon na see that's really interesting about Changi. Is that there's no such thing as the VIP service, its CIP service? What does CIP stand for Commercially Important People? Who are they? Well, they include someone like David Beckham that we saw hanging out at the lounge today, but also it's for average folks, like you me and we're heading on tarmac now to show you the elite terminal service at CIP play here.
Forget the masses at passport control because I'm a CIP, and that means no lines at immigration, no scramble at the baggage carousel. Instead, it's the bar food, art and ambiance, but when you are not just any CIP, you also get the suite. That'S right with your own Butler Champagne, canapes, and all that was required of me - was to sitback glass of bubbly inhand and just wait for someone to fetch my bag for me. Well that and pay around fourteen hundred dollars. So there you go door-to-door service at the Singapore Changi airport. That is what you call CIP, okay, so the bags are packed and we're off to the hotel. So as we race down the highway which actually doubles as a spare runway, you know just incase. All of a sudden we are at Marina Bay. That'S right, the new heart of Singapore. Ironically, you think that this entire part of the Island didn't even exist. At one point, infact Singapore has reclaimed so much land from the sea. The country is now 25 percent bigger than it was fifty years ago, and this is precisely where the iconic Marina Bay Sands now stands. There are many that thought it was a gamble to build a casino in a country nicknamed Singabore, but as any high roller will tell you, you have the bet big to win big. So here we are at Marina Bay Sands, which is the most expensive hotel ever built in the world, at a cost of more than five and a half billion dollars, as also the largest hotel in Singapore and the sixth largest in the asia-pacific. So we're in the chairman suite, which is bigger than the presidential suite - that only there's only two of them in the hotel and it's got everything you may need, and maybe some things you don't Pool room Table for ten Massage room karaoke room, Your own personal salon, Personal sauna, steam and gym room a baby grand piano, because a grand piano would be too much So as spectacular as the chairman suite is here at Marina Bay Sands, it's not just about the hotel rooms or just the gambling that visitors come for. It'S also about tallest and biggest infinity pool in the world. In fact, the entire sky park is actually longer than the Eiffel Tower is tall. One-And-A-Half million litres of water jut out over the hotel 57 stories into the air, all culminating in a dramatic view, unlike any other city in the world. So, as you see behind us, the Marina Bay Sands is hotel pool is phenomenally popular.

Hello and welcome to Money In The Movies Second reel, I'm Peter Bielagus. On this show, we go a bit more in depth about a topic discussed in a Money In The Movies episode. Today I am going to talk about my review of Casino Royale and the topic of short selling. In the episode, we mentioned that the villain in the film, Le Chiffre, uses a very high risk investment strategy called short selling or shorting.
When an investor "shorts" a stock, he or she is hoping that stock price will go down. Rather than the traditional buy low and sell high, short selling is the reverse, you sell high and then buy low. Now a little clarification here. We are talking about "stocks." When someone short sells a piece of real estate, that means they sell it for less than what they owe on it. So if you owned a home with a $200,000 loan and you sell your home for $185,000 that is a real estate short sale. In the stock market short selling is different. As I said shorting is a way to make money when a stock goes down. But how exactly does that work? I mean if you owned a stock and the price went down, you would lose money not make money right? Well with short selling, you typically don't own the stock, you borrow stock from another investor. Imagine shares of Apple are trading for $100 per share. I wiiiiish. Anyway you think the stock price is going to do down. Now you don't own any Apple stock, so you borrow it from someone who does. You would call your stockbroker and say, "hey dude," (assuming your stock broker is a dude) I want to "short" 100 shares of Apple stock. Your stock broker would then call ALL of his clients and say, does anyone want to lend 100 shares of apple stock? Now why would someone want to lend their shares to you? Well the same reason people will lend anything. You can charge a fee for it. I might say, "Hey I'll lend you my stock." The stock broker would then move my Apple shares into your account. Every month that my shares are in your account, you would pay me a fee. So now 100 shares valued at $100 per share are in your account. You would then sell those shares leaving you with $10,000 in cash. But remember those 100 shares you sold werent yours, you borrowed them from me. So you owe me 100 shares. Your strategy then is to wait until the price of those shares drops. Suppose in two months, the price of Apple stock dropped to $50 per share. You would then buy 100 shares at $50 per share or $5000. You would then return those 100 shares to me, the guy you borrowed them from. You profit is the $5000 you made, from selling at $10,000 and then buying back at $5000. And of course you did pay me a small fee for two months, to borrow those shares. The problem with short selling, is the same problem with every investment, what if you are wrong? Suppose you sell 100 shares of Apple at $100 per share and then next week the price goes to $120 per share? Then $150? Well if you bought them back, you would lose $5000. And remember every month you are paying me that rental fee. Keep in mind, a stock can only go to zero. But there is no limit as to how high a stock can go. Short selling is one of the few investments that carries UNLIMITED RISK. So my advice, is to stay away. I'm Peter Bielagus and thanks for watching, Money In The Movies Second Reel. Are you all remember showing outside and he is their head of the las vegas sans company uh... and uh... it's kind of a misnomer because assays actually only ten percent of his holdings now macau has ninety percent of his holdings that's with a sense makes most of its money and and he's made over twenty billion dollars for the richest guys the world and he gave us starting amount in this election cycle we thought but it might be a billion hundred million dollars turns out no we just found out from too republican insiders improves that received the money that the actual now was one hundred fifty million does not report before is being have broken by propping them post that sandwiches also interesting in terms of uh... how holding a post got that story and why they got that story uh... but first was talking about uh... why showman allison warner spent all that money in the first place exit poll political in the middle of the uh... election cycle is to look you know it ardent supporter of the right wing israeli government he's a hawk in that uh... regard uh... he's against unions because god forbid they should he should pay is workers just couple of sense more please get over twenty billion dollars but he said his number one reason was that he was worried about how he would be built behind uh... to legal proceedings now legal proceedings that began before he did any of these contributions and what are those well one of them instead he might be brought up on charges of the four corrupt practices act for bribing chinese officials now improvement that would be totally and utterly illegal and in danger ninety percent of his earnings that come from a cow is of course an island off of china maybe a little color but in fact listen to what he said the political quote a second all mama term would bring government vilification of people that were against them he thinks he would be at the top of that lists he contends that he already has been targeted for his political activity athlete that how smart that's because if you give all of them fifty million dollar gift and what is of course in our system of legalized bribery to the republicans and the women mitt romney had won and they had won some of those senate races the center of control the senate do you think they're going to bring up charges against the man who assured him that nature by giving him a hundred fifty million dollars their largest donor wealth course they're not going to do that if you think they were going to do that you don't live in this country don't understand our political system worse at all they when a politician gets bribe like this he stays rock it works f incredibly effectively we'll show you that over and over now so that's obvious but if democrats win he's already set up excuse optus as i've contributed to republicans they've made an enemies list and they're coming after me not because i broke the law but because of political risks and i can guarantee you that his republican friends at on capitol hill if used charged will absolutely said all or bomb as an enemies list just like nixon that's why they're going after shell than adults in fact you know to bring that point home heat the crowding the post also says quote while in washington d_c_ he's arranged held meetings with at least one house g_o_p_ leader in which he's expected to discuss key issues including possible changes the fourth corrupt practices act or really the antibody a law that undercurrents one federal produce casino network according to a republican attorney with knowledge of this planet so he's going up to capitol hill to say hey you know what romero hundred emily those i gave you any good stand you protect the politically if i'm charged with this and apparently he thinks is a good chance he's going to be well then there's another hundred and fifty million dollars in your future now by the way why would republicans in organizations that shobana nelson gift to leak this alot helping the post that's very interesting right because having impose a lot of these conservatories is progressive leans left or whatever it might be while the lead in the first place why would we want to hang their their largest over 'cause they're not angry he wants them to lead why does he want them to lincoln 'cause he's trying to send a message in fact i'm not sure i do believe that it's a hundred and fifty million dollars in light of the last most people look at in dot all well that seems damaging to me spent on him to be a million dollars and didn't get what he bargained for well the reality is he might get exactly what he bargained for when he has an army of republicans that dining m against these charges if they ever come up and that is exactly what he'll get exactly the message you want to send all washington remember what your bread and butter on the guy with the money and i give it the last time and give it to you again next time see that's how legalized bribery works the united states of america now whether it's gonna be successful prevent those charges we're gonna see but have a times have you seen president bomb assay we're not looking backwards we're looking forward so it was politically can be informed i hope it doesn't do that in this case in either way i hope actually do the charges or don't do the charges based on the merits and not based on nonsense politics
The love that she thought was safe - and that in many ways saved her - is almost or equally as perilous as the other physical connections she's had.
Of course physicality does not define an entire relationship, but especially in Juliette's case, it's linked tightly with her emotional stability. Even when she comes to capricious agreements with herself, and Adam, about how to make their relationship work despite the seemingly insurmountable challenge of the combination of their powers, their bodies' desires do not cooperate. It's tearing them apart while they desperately try to hold themselves together. Throughout Unravel Me, Juliette touches on these two creatures: Warner who is human versus one who is a monster. Whereas before it seemed that he fell staunchly on one side of the line, his evil heart bringing about destruction everywhere his power was felt, now this distinction is blurred. Who he truly is becomes increasingly confusing as Juliette spends time with him over the course of the story. I experienced something similar as I read feeling sympathy for Warner while simultaneously wanting to lock him in an escape-proof box to keep him from wrecking my OTP (Adam's tortured existence in this book slays me ;__;). His father coming to link his and Juliette's (and Adam's, ohhhhhhh god! I honestly didn't see that twist coming.) stories together was another development that captured and held my attention. Such a sadistic character brings others' shortcomings into a different perspective; if anyone truly has evil in his heart, it is Anderson (speaking of names, I can't take Warner's first one seriously - am I the only one?!). My mind keeps going in a million different directions when I think of not only how his relationship with Juliette will progress, But how he and Adam will throw down interact as the series reaches its conclusion. Like I touched on in my Destroy Me book review, this added complexity of Warner's character made me like his story and the way it fits into the greater plot much more. He's interesting in new and intriguing ways, and the lack of surety surrounding his morality brings an element of reality into this dystopian world. The above quote is my favourite quote of the book; it is something that every human being can relate to, and was a thought that I found particularly accessible as a reader. Jenn and I had a very heated discussion following my reading of Chapter 62.
She is staunchly Team Adam and could not get into the action because of it. But the way I explained my complicated feels to her was this: while Warner is obviously an attractive guy, I don't necessarily think lust is the driving factor in what happens between him and Juliette. She's in an (even more so than usual) heightened emotional state, having just thought she hurt one of her truest friends, potentially in a fatal manner. She then discovers that her power, which harms the man she loves the most (as my friend Lindsey said, HE NEEDS TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET HIS BELLA WALL UP. Come on, Adam, WORK WITH US. Askdfjlajsdlfark I died.), Has the opposite effect on Warner. It invigorates and strengthens him (I'm curious to see how this weakens/strengthens angle ties in with the familial aspect revealed in UM); Juliette makes him feel GOOD, which is not something she can bring to other people. It's validating and reassuring. The scene that spoke volumes to me was actually the one in the hallway preceding the hotness that was the sixty-second chapter: when Warner holds her, I found it more revealing than anything else. She needs reassurance and love and comfort, and in that precarious moment, Warner is able to offer at least some form of these things to her. "He's breathing like he's lost his mind and he's looking at me like something has broken inside of him, like he's woken up to find that his nightmares were just that, that they never existed, that it was all just a bad dream that felt far too real but now he's awake and he's safe and everything is going to be okay and I'm falling. I'm falling apart and into his heart and I'm a disaster." When Juliette is with Adam, she's doing the one thing that (she sees as) separating her from Warner; she wants to be good, and I believe she inherently is. But as she sees how her trait elicits destruction in and of her other half, she begins to believe that if she gives into her deepest desires - like Warner so often does - she won't be any better than him. It becomes a constant battle of want vs. need and right vs. wrong."'You say you love me,' he says. 'And I know I love you.' He looks up, meets my eyes. 'So why the hell can't we be together?'" Technical Stuff Writing (Flow, Style, etc.): The writing is incredible. Crisp and sharp, the writing had me taken from page one and I was never bored. The style in which she used for the main voice, Janelle was fantastic, if a little angst and swear-ridden, and resembled that of an ACTUAL TEENAGE GIRL. While the flow began fantastically, I felt as if it sort of dropped off near the end with the climax, and the quality of the writing was definitely better in the beginning building action. On a side note, Elizabeth Norris is a queen of suspense and action. Seriously, what she described was so realistic and poignant that I could completely imagine the scene unfolding in front of my eyes as I read. Plot: This was possibly one of the best aspects of the book... and the worst. Let me explain. On the one hand, there was a lovely amount of characterization and suspense and action going on, which is possibly the best part. Elizabeth Norris is amazing at writing suspense- whenever I had just about made my mind up about one theory, she would send me in the complete opposite direction. There wasn't a moment where I was trying to guess what was going to happen next, and it was always a shocker when I found out what was really happening next (though it did make sense). However, on the other hand... there was the romance. I mean, it wasn't terrible as far as romances have gone, but I really didn't like the insta-love. The characters were fine, if a little perfect, but it was really the lack of chemistry and the insta-love that got me. It was just... very drab, and I didn't really get into it. Thankfully it wasn't a main emphasis, though it did play a bigger part than I hoped it to have. Characterisation: Most of the characters were fairly well developed- I felt as if none of the main characters were too underdeveloped and that there were maybe one or two cliched characters throughout the whole book- characters that only appeared once and never had an opportunity to explore, but overall it wasn't anything special. Other Tidbits: Um.... yeah, that's about it. There's just been so much hype for this, so when I finally read this, I was a little bit skeptical. I'm not sure what to say about this, though. I mean, it didn't wow me completely, but at the same time it certainly was a good novel. It's not particularly memorable for either good or bad reasons, and that's just the sort of book it is. I honestly have not much to say about it. Definitely check it out, since it's a good book, but other than that, I don't have mega-feels for it. 4 stars.
